The 1960's saw a big change in the UK Charts with the start of the NME Chart and the EP
(Extended Play) Chart from the 12th March 1960. Also on this date the 'Official Chart' became a
'Top 50'. The NME chart (a Top 30) ran untill 3rd Jan 1970 and although it was not the OFFICIAL
chart, it was in fact, a more accurate chart with more sales returns than the 'Official - Record
Retailer Chart' . The EP Chart was published by Record Retailer and WAS 'Official' and ran untill
the 16th December 1967. If you compare the NME chart and the Official chart you will see a
difference nearly every week. What is also very noticable is the fact that many acts sometimes
had 2 or 3 releases in each weeks chart. There were some classic releases in 1960 and Elvis
ended the year with the Christmas No1 with 'It's Now or Never'. So here is 1960......
